MJ Archaeology is my ‘one man band’ archaeological consultancy.
I have very recently created this website for my business – so please excuse the limited content. More info will follow soon.
I deliver a range of archaeological and heritage services in an approachable, friendly and helpful way. Perhaps you are looking for an archaeologist to help you deliver a community project, or would like training to develop skills for your local group? Perhaps you need a historic building survey, or archaeological investigation as part of a development that you are planning? I have worked on a wide variety of heritage projects across the north of England over the last eighteen years.
In that time I’ve developed several areas of specialism, including; archaeological landscape survey, GIS, analysis of aerial imagery and lidar, small-scale excavation/evaluation/watching briefs, and survey of traditional farm buildings. I can provide expert conservation advice for archaeological sites, and am well-versed in the range of project designs, written schemes and other documents that are required for any archaeological project.
I am based in Wensleydale near to Askrigg, and I’m available to work in Durham, North Yorkshire and Cumbria – for contractual reasons I do not undertake work inside the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
